Check your personal tax account online

Monday, March 13th, 2017 Money

The government have setup an online portal to allow users to check their own tax account to see if their owed any refunds. To login you will need either a passport or national insurance number to verify your identity. After you have logged in, it will display if you’ve paid too much tax (or too little).

The portal allows you to check tax upto the last six years. Some users have claimed hundreds of pounds in tax rebates but this is often due to not having claimed the yearly paper copy. Tax rebates are sent out yearly at the end of the tax year. For most people, they will be claiming tax rebates for the past year, though this can be quite a significant amount and definitly worth checking.

Another useful feature of this portal, is the ability to show your state pension.
